About Me

It has been mentioned several times now that I did not have an ‘About Me’ section.  So if you really want to know here it is.

Travel has always been a part of my life starting with trips both overseas and in country with my parents.  It seemed the perfectly normal thing to put money aside when I left school to save up to go travelling overseas.  I’ve continued to do that with trips of various lengths everything from small 4 week holidays to a year long RTW.

Travel is even listed on my CV under ‘Hobbies’.  An expensive one I must admit but one that I do not regret.  I have seen a fair bit of the world over the years but there are still so many fascinating places and cultures to see and experience.  I never get bored of it.  One of the biggest problems seems to be deciding when I get back from a trip where I will go next!

Over the years I have done a variety of jobs like kitchen hand, waitress, butler, receptionist, (the list goes on) and my income has gone in the upward direction.  All well and good.  I haven’t noticed that it makes it any easier to save to go travelling though. One seems to acquire more ‘things’ one of those ‘things’ being a house, or rather the bank owns the house and I think I’ve managed to pay off the front door and some of the front wall, if you get my meaning!

No matter what your situation do not let anyone tell you that you can not possible save enough money to travel.  You may have to be strict with yourself and it may take longer but even on a limited budget you can save if you really want to.  All those 5 cent pieces really do add up!

I started this website initially because I was planning another RTW trip.  The trip was delayed by several years but it still happened.  So all I can say if you’re planning a RTW or even just a normal length trip and life just seems to be getting in the way do not despair.  Keep your eyes on the goal, keep planning, keep saving and it will happen.

So now I’m planning for the next trip, smaller in duration for the next few years and long term I have a vague idea for another ‘longer’ trip.  Possibly Africa.  We’ll see what the future holds.

Anyway I think that is enough about me.  It is a big wide world out there and I hope I will met you out in it one day.

Have fun,

Cath
