A Flight in First Class

So, I’m sitting in the lounge at Dallas Fort Worth airport waiting for my next flight having just finished my very first long haul flight in First Class (and likely the last).  All I’m wondering now is how on earth I’m going to go back to cattle class after that.

I mean short flights in Cattle Class is fine but it’s so much more civilised on a long haul flight in first class.  It’s like a whole different world.  I was in seat 1A.

Now of course I couldn’t help but google it as soon as I found out what seat I’d be in.  I saw some complaints from some saying that it was really noisy because it was near the closets.  Now I considered that but decided I didn’t particularly care.  It’s first class!!!

So to all those people bitching that it’s noisy.  Um, seriously?  You really need a smack over the back of the head and need to go down to Cattle Class just so you know how the other half live and travel.

Yes there is a closet where they put your jacket if you want, but let’s face it, noisy?  That happens right at the start of the flight so I didn’t particularly think it annoying at all.  The other thing they store right near seat 1A is the beding.  Again that tends to happen, at least on my flight once near the start and quite frankly there are not too many seats up in first to make up.  Then again when they pack the beding away, at the end of the flight so you are likely getting your own beding put away at the same time.  So again, at least for me, not an issue at all.  For those horribly rich types who fly that way all the time, oh I so feel your horror… As said go down to Economy to get a reality check.  For those who get exceptionally lucky and score an upgrade, you’ll love it.

So onto the first class thing now that I’ve cleared that one up.  The space is, amazing.  The ‘suite’ even has its own little seat for visitors.  So traveling by myself I did have a visitor to try that out.  I feel so deprived!

Once you’ve settled in your seat you get a drink of your choice while waiting for the plane to finish loading.  Again, so civilised.  I had Champagne.  You almost have to right?

Whole new levels of civilisation, complementary Champagne (or water if you really prefer) on offer in first class soon after arrival.

There were so many choices on the menu it was hard to believe they could serve all this on a plane.  I decided on the special being the balmaine bugs.  Gotta say.  Yum.

To be honest I've forgotten what was on the biscuits, it was really nice though! Still this was the start of my meal!

Ok so I forgot to take a photo before I started eating..... try to imagin it before I made a mess of it!

I did have a desert as well, I just plain forgot to take a photo before I ate it....

The service was exceptional, there wasn’t quite more staff than passengers in first but it was about 1 to 4, at some points 1 to 3 as other staff showed up to help out at times.

Once on board they also give you an amenities kit, with toothbrush, toothpaste, face cleanser, face cream, eye mask & a pair of pyjamas (in this case a 'road to Rio' set due to the Olympics)

My favourite part was the bed, a flat comfortable bed, with quilt and pillows.  Just makes the whole flight so much better!

Through the efforts of the Qantas Staff your chair gets turned into a really comfortable bed.

So I have to say thanks Qantas!  I really enjoyed my time in first class and thank you for making that happen.
