While in Tokyo I spent my ‘nice’ nights at the start of my holiday at the Hotel Century Southern tower. I ate in a variety of places from roadside stalls through to fancy restaurants, I’ve got to say I really like the food here in Japan so far.
On one of the nights I decided to dine in at the hotel and chose Tribeks for dinner, the hotels French themed restaurant. Yes I know I’m in Japan!
Just for the heck of it and because I had my camera with me I snapped a photo of each dish I had so I thought I would share!
Now I had the Prix Fixe Dinner Course for ¥5775, its a five course menu and the wine is extra if you want a glass.
Now I must say my table wasn’t too bad considering I was by myself, one row back from the window, sensational views across the city. Generally as a single diner I’ve noticed some establishments try to bury you at the back of the restaurant.
The first course wasn’t really to my liking. I will say it has nothing to do with the restaurant or chef. I just really, I mean really hate olives! Still every now and then I will try something that I don’t like to see if my tastes have changed. On the olive front I can safely say they haven’t!
The next dish was much more to my liking being pan seared scallops with Shiitake Mushrooms, I think those were the mushrooms anyway. The dish was lovely.
Soup was up next and while pumpkin soup has never been a particular favourite this bowl of pumpkin soup may just change my mind.
My main meal selection arrived and it was Devine! Beef & Lamb with a red wine sauce with vegetables. The meat was cooked superbly and the taste when combined with the sauce as well w incredible. I loved it.
Lastly was desert and coffee, I had the caramel nut roll cake with banana, mmm yum!
Now I can safely say the meal was a little more expensive than I would normally have while travelling however I enjoyed every little mouthful. Well, except for the olives!
