Then on to Fortaleza

My bus to Fortaleza was uneventful although instead of taking 24 hours it it 27 hours and I finally arrived in the very late afternoon. If you like beaches and are not all beached out then Fortaleza has a few more to offer up. Then was one off the main drag within walking distance from my hostel and there were bus excursions to other beaches if I’d wanted. Er, I didn’t, I was happy enough wandering down through the shops and on to the local beach.

I went out that evening for dinner and mainly to orientate myself as to where I was. The next day I wandered down though the shops then on to the beach. One end is just for sunbathers, swimmers suffers etc then as you wander down the beach front dining is added as well one after the other followed by a artesian market then more food stalls. I some how managed to fill my day wandering around and gazing at the water crashing onto the shore.

On my way back I found myself wandering down to join the people exercising some walking, as I did even though I’d been walking all day, others jogging. Cyclists and skaters were gliding there way around the walkway at the edge of the beach. It was amazing how many people came out of the woodwork as soon as the sun started to go down right along with the temperature where it hit about 30 odd degrees and stays about that for the rest of the night.

Food Stalls on the Beach

Now here I am on the bus headed to Salvador. I should get in about 1700 hours this afternoon, if we get in on time. I would have written and posted these soon but as luck would have it the Internet in the hostel went down.

I had to content myself with wandering down to the beach instead. What a shame.
