The days just seemed to pass by when I got back to Cuzco although I can not say I did much except prepare for the Inca Trail.  Since there were a number of trekking stores in Cuzco I decided to replace some of my wardrobe.

Exciting stuff huh?

Amazon Jungle Trip

Ok so I’ve been a little slack regarding writing up this entry. Then again I am on holidays and things did happen rather rapidly there for a bit.

I had no sooner got back from the Galapagos Islands trip before I was sitting next to an Australian girl Jodie who mentioned going to the Amazon Jungle in the morning. I commented that I was going to CarpeDM in the morning to arrange to go to the jungle myself.

The next morning saw me downstairs in the office as soon as it opened booking the Nicky Amazon Lodge along with Jodie. Things had gone smoothly until that point.

The Galapagos Islands

While the Galapagos Islands is expensive at the best of times I will say that it was worth every cent I paid. I had the best time on the cruise I booked with Galapagos Odyssey.

What ever you do if you are thinking of doing a Galapagos trip if you have the time do not book and pay outside of Ecuador. The prices you will pay for a ‘last minute deal’ are hugely inflated when comparing it to local costs. 

If you book and pay before you get here you will pay more than double the price.

The markets of Otavalo

I woke up slowly this morning, lazing around in the luxury that a double bed in a room all to myself provided. The fact that both the mattress and the pillows were really comfortable helped.

When I finally got up and opened the curtains I was delighted to discover that I could see the corner of the square where they were setting up the market

Crossing Boarders, from Popayan to Otavalo

It was one of those horribly early mornings that one seems to do quite frequently but always hate. At least I do. I’d packed the night before to minimise the disturbance to my dorm mates so all that was required was for me to roll out of bed and dress.

By the time I managed to stumble down to the common room it was 0530 hrs. I waited for a few minutes since one of the other guys said he was getting up and doing the same thing. He didn’t make it to the common room so I shrugged and headed out onto the for once quiet streets of Popyan.
