This is it… D day… it is 9:00am in the morning. I am sitting in Perth at Cathy’s parents house, with Cathy and we are doing the final preparations before we fly out this afternoon to Thailand.
Journal
So there are no more days left in my countdown. Just hours. I fly out tonight for home to visit my family for a week before meeting up with Cass and heading off to Thailand. I haven’t packed yet. That is today’s chore. I meant to do it before now but somehow it just didn’t happen, what with exercise, lunches, dinners…. Well I’m sure you get the idea! Even today in-between packing I’ve got to do the washing, though I haven’t planned anything else for today.
Think I must have known that I wouldn’t get around to that packing thing.
So it starts again. I finished work the other day. Not the permanent type of finish work, just the finished for a space of time type finish. I have a few days here before I get on a plane and start my journey. Sitting here this morning, my first morning of ‘freedom’, sipping my coffee it feels like nothing really has changed. I’m aware that there are things I need to do, like go to the gym, food shopping, washing clothes. You know. That stuff that is so much a part of daily life that it is hard to get away from.
This is kinda cool.
At least I think so. Are you like me?
Are you the person who constantly hears friends and acquaintances regal you with the tails of how/when they were upgraded? Have you noticed that those types always seem to have more than one story of when/how they were upgraded? You sit there, just like I do and wish, just once, that it was you that managed to get upgraded.
The counter on my dashboard reliably informs me that it is 40 days 14 hours and 33 minutes until I’m ‘out of here’.
Things seem to be coming together quite nicely. We’ve booked our ‘nice’ nights in Bangkok at the Shangri-La hotel and the price includes an airport pick-up. Two nights of luxury before we head off to explore the country and stay in places that will not be quite as luxurious. Still in there own way they will be better!
