I’m sure you’re all staring at my site tapping your finger thoughtfully on your lip. Knowing that something has changed since your last visit but unable to work out what it is.
Well I’ll let you in on the secret.
Walker’s Trails has new clothes!
I changed the template yesterday to give the site a whole new look. Isn’t it pretty?
I still have a lot of work to do. Oh most of the work as far as the template is done, lets face it the content is the same I just have a bit of tinkering. Like the picture up the top will be changed eventually to one of my own. Before anyone mentions it yes I know the map on the map page is too big. I have to tinker with that too! I also have to work on the links at the bottom of each page and well… I’m sure you’ve got the idea.
The major glitch I was having was neatly solved. I’d accidentally set my CSS to the Web Page setting so of course the pages were coming up without any design at all. I was reading the error messages on the Error Console but for the life of me I did not understand what it was trying to tell me. One of the nice Tech types on EE did a lovely interpreter job and suggested checking the settings. I smacked myself over the back of the head! It’s the simple things that get you most of the time.
The template thing is kind of like giving the site a new set of clothes to wear. You know the same underneath it’s just the packaging that has changed! There was nothing wrong with the old template it’s just I wanted something different. Glad I do not do this that often though since it is kind of fiddly. Still I managed to do it in a day instead of an entire weekend so I must be making progress on this whole website thing!
Author Note: Well it seems that took less time than I thought. Links at the bottom now done, the header picture has been changed and the map on the map page has been resized and now works! Now just to work on the content in the side bar.
