Since we were being picked up across from my guest house the morning was rather relaxed although it was a case of throwing down the coffee and eating the final slice of toast as I walked across the road.  We were transported to the boat and off to dive in the National Marine Park around Ko Rang in short order.

Since I haven’t been diving for a couple of years I did a ‘Tune Up’ on the first dive of the day.  Mo was doing a ‘Try Dive’ since she does not have a dive licence.  All that means is that she is restricted to a maximum depth of 12m.  Not that I really minded, when it comes right down to it its the same coral and fish at 12m as at 15m or 20m.  On the first dive we spent some time in shallow water with the instructor, Kristel running through some basic exercises before heading down to the bottom.  That took some time since I had some trouble regulating one ear but finally got down the bottom.  Then a few more exercises for me to run through as in mask recovery and clearing, controlling breathing and gaining and maintaining a neutral position.  Float up, float down all that type of ‘stuff’.

The water was somewhat murky with fairly low visibility still it was nice as we finally finished with the exercises and headed off.  Mo did well considering though both Kristel and I had to keep an eye on her since she tended to head off in a different direction.

On the second dive of the day we took some basic underwater cameras down to snap some photos underwater.  They are the old film style camera and it was odd going back to that simplistic type of camera.  Not sure if any of the photos will turn out though since the water really hadn’t cleared up all that much.

Anyway it was a good day and I’m glad I ended up doing something different rather than laze around.
