My round the world (RTW) trip is finally close enough for me to start the initial planning. All right I know it’s two years away but I’m not sure if you realise how much planning goes into a trip like this. In reality I’ve been thinking and saying I was going to go on another year long RTW for years now. Then last year I quite suddenly went from thinking/ saying and opened a dedicated savings account for the trip. The account is even called RTW 2010.
I’m not sure what prompted that now but it literally was that sudden. I’ve set the whole thing to automatically transfer cash over to the account every pay day. Its accumulating nicely and I’ve managed not to touch it. Probably due to it being separate from my normal banking with the only access being online. You know what they say, out of sight, out of mind. In my case that is probably true.
The date was sort of arbitrary. August 2010. One of my friends has her long service leave mid 2010 and she is thinking of coming with me for at least some of the trip. The August part was due to me thinking it would be a good idea to get my tax done before I go. That’s the only rational really.
I’ve also just made contact with a web designer to get a quote for a design for the Trails of my very own. I’m really excited about the prospect and can not wait to see what comes out of the whole thing. It’ll also be good to see the whole site updated and revamped, designed around my RTW. I’ll be hoping to get the mapping function up and running for the trip and a couple of other new things/content as well.
On the sad side the up and coming trip to Egypt is being delayed. My friend who I am going with had some work issues so can not go on the dates we originally planned for. At this stage we are looking at the first half of 2009. The month will be confirmed at a later date so stay tuned! I guess that means I’ll have extra money for my RTW saved!
Pretty interesting trip. Yah I realize that how much planning goes into a trip like yours. By the way it’s very amazing. Hopefully you’ll share your next trip in Amazon.
