This is it… D day…  it is 9:00am in the morning.  I am sitting in Perth at Cathy’s parents house, with Cathy and we are doing the final preparations before we fly out this afternoon to Thailand.

I have been in Perth a couple of days now, after driving down on Sunday from Kalgoorlie.  Cathy arrived about a week ago and is in full holiday mode.  The mood is not overly excited.  We are not jumping up and down just yet celebrating our escape from the country and work… I think the excitement will come when we are actually on the plane and flying.

The last week of work for me was extremely busy.  My last shift finished at 4:30am on the Saturday morning.  It has been difficult to shut off from work, but hopefully that will kick in shortly.  The alcohol consumption is assisting with that… we have stayed up until midnight most nights with a couple of bottles of very good red wine.  Yesterday I went into Perth and picked up the final few items for the trip.  These are things that I just can’t buy at home.  It gets very frustrating sometimes, but now Mountain Designs are on line and you can shop throughout the store and have everything posted to you.  This will make it a lot easier for next time.

My backpack is packed and has been for the last week.  I wasn’t going to take the chance of packing at the last minute just in case something went wrong at work… and true to form.. it did… But that is another story and one that does not need to go here.  I guess I am a little excited… I am sitting here writing in the journal!!

I am looking forward to exploring, hiking, and generally having a good time.  It will be great to spend so long with Cathy after so many years apart.  Until the next entry…

HAH HAH HAH…. WE ARE GOING ON HOLIDAY…. HAH HAH HAH (ok… thats about the limit of my excitement for the moment…)
