So the trip this year is to Egypt.  I am really looking forward to the trip.  The airfares are booked and paid for and I fly out of the country on Thursday 7 May 2009 to Dubai.  We intend to spend a couple of nights in Dubai then on to Cairo where we are meeting up with some others

I guess I should explain the ‘we’ and ‘others’?

This trip my parents are coming along as well.  So I will fly via Perth to pick them up ‘on the way’ so to speak.  That’s the ‘we’. 

Miss Lou is flying to Cairo from Brisbane with another friend of hers, Katherine.  Lil, Es and possibly a couple of extra friends of there’s are flying out from New York.  That would be the ‘others’. 

We’ve pricked a hotel in cairo to meet up at and I guess we’ll set a time if everyone ends up staying elsewhere, like ‘meet up in the hotel bar at 1pm’.  Or something like that anyway.  We are all planning to meet in a particular hotel in Cairo on Saturday 9 May 2009 then go from there.

First up we are planning on heading to Aswan by train then enjoy a cruise on the Nile to Luxor in a Dahabiyya or Sandal depending on the numbers we will have.  That’s all we have planned at this stage, although I will say its more planning than I would normally do.  We wanted to book the Dahabiyya in advance to make sure that we secured one.  Where we go and what we do after that is pretty much open to the group.

Five of us have locked in and booked our airfares so far.  So the trip is definitely on its just a matter of how many of us will be meeting up in Cairo!
