A game of of Snake, Rat, Tuk-Tuk anyone? What’s that you ask? Well its the latest drinking game in Koh Chang and the International Championship was held last night. The competition was intense involving copious amounts of alcohol and laughter, several rounds were held before a Swedish guy won the tournament.
The game was the brain child of Matt and David with a few details added by Mo and I chimed in with my two cents worth (mainly a confused look and ‘that’s not going to work, rat has to be able to kill something otherwise the snake will win every time…’). So finally the rules were all settled. Wasn’t that hard really since it was Rock, Paper, Scissors just with actions and the appropriate sound thrown in for good measure.
So the Snake was a striking cobra done with one hand and a hissing noise (Snake strikes Rat and beats Rat). Dave and Matt had been trying to go to the Snake Temple but the taxi driver said he didn’t understand and didn’t speak English. So Dave engaged in charades and mimicked a striking cobra with one arm and hand and hissed appropriately at the driver who’s eyes lit up with understanding ‘oh, Snake Temple, yes I take you…’).
Rat is made with both hands mimicking claws, complete with motion and making a evil little ‘rat noise’ (Rat runs up Tuk-Tuk driver’s leg and beats Tuk-Tuk). Dave was responsible for this one, again. Dave and Matt were out and about in Bangkok when Dave heard a ‘eek, eek’ noise. He looked down to see a rat looking up at him with one evil eye before it scurried over his foot. He of course had to run off and wash his foot before he would do anything else.
Tuk-Tuk is made with both hands mimicking holding the handle bars of a motorbike and once again with the appropriate sound effects (Tuk-Tuk runs over Snake and beats Snake). Now Tuk-Tuk came about because of Matt and well just cause there everywhere. Also due to an excursion he went on to the Tiger Temple. The driver had just picked up Matt and Dave from the hostel then drove down the road and stopped about 5 minutes later outside a big five star hotel to pick up more people. Matt started doing the whole wide eyed tourist thing climbing out and starting up the stairs looking around going ‘Tigers? Where are the Tigers…’ the driver looked at Matt his frustration at the idiot savant obvious in his expression and tone and said ‘No! This hotel. We still in Bangkok, get back in the bus…’ all the while shaking his head in disbelief. You really have to see Matt do his routine of this one. It’s hilarious even when you’re not drunk.
So that was the night. Filled with laughter, alcohol and a little game called Snake, Rat, Tuk-Tuk….
What about the day you ask? I will not bore you with all the details that was filled with, beaches, swimming and massages.
