It was one of those spur of the moment decisions.  You know where you’re just talking then a suggestion is made and you think that sounds like a great idea.  I’m in.  So we sent off a few emails before going to bed that came back promptly the next morning when we checked.  They were in too.  The next few days were spent running around our respective work places trying to arrange a few weeks leave. That was a little harder for Lou to get approval than me but by the end of the week that was organised too.

A few more emails and the airfares are all organised and a little searching online and we have accommodation booked in another city.  A trip to the book store yielded two Lonely Planet City guides, we do not need one for the third since we know what we’re doing there!

So where are we going you ask?

Well the trails are flying out of Australia and arriving in the United States on Saturday 12 July.  We are going to New York City to visit Lil and Ester!

We will spend about a week with Lil, who is kindly putting us up at her place, then we’ll head off for a ‘side trip’ to Niagara Falls then possibly Montreal and Quebec City.  Then we’ll head back for a few more days with Lil and Ester before flying from NYC to LA where we will spend a few days at Disneyland, ok so we’re big kids at heart then fly home.

It may only be three weeks but I’m really excited and looking forward to the trip and seeing NYC from a locals point of view.
