The Clock Is Still Counting Down

So the clock is still counting down slowly but surely.  Time seems to be playing its own little jig, sometimes it seems to go past at a rapid rate.  Particularly when there are things you need to do.  Have you ever noticed that time always seems to run out when there are things you need to do? 

Then there are other days that seem to never end.  Its almost like someone hit the pause button or the ‘frame by frame’ slow button on the world and you can not find the remote.

How To Pick A Holiday Destination

I’ve never really paid much attention or given much thought to the ‘how’ of picking my next travel destination.  Honestly I’ve never really found the whole process that hard.  One trip finishes and the next is in planning.  Still it seems to be a decision that some people have trouble with.  If you fit into that category you have my sympathies, honestly, here are some suggestions that might help.

First Few Days

Its morning and I’m sitting on the bottom sleeper bed on the night train between Cairo to Aswan.  Hopefully by this time we are closer to Aswan than we are to Cairo even though we seem to have spent quite a bit of the time stationary.  I have a little catching up to do since I’ve been a little slack.  Its amazing how much harder it is to keep up with this when you are travelling with a bunch of people.  One seems to have a lot less ‘down’ time.

Aswan

And later that same day…

The group split on arrival in Aswan just after 11am.  Half the group used the opportunity to walk to the Keylany Hotel the other half of us decided to take a cab.  Three cabs later and a spot of haggling with the grand price of 5 Egyptian Pounds we found ourselves in a cab heading for the hotel.

Abu Simbel & The Dahabiyya

0245 hours and multiple alarms go off in the hotel.  I considered cursing for a bit or rolling over and pulling the pillow over my head but decided it would not really be productive.  Besides most of the alarms belonged to us.

We trouped down stairs, picked up our breakfast boxes and headed out with our driver to our mini van to take us to Abu Simbel.
