Elephants and Bamboo Rafts

We got up bright and early this morning looking for breakfast before our scheduled day trip just out of Chang Mai.  The unfortunate thing being that most places do not offer breakfast until after 0800hrs.  (we had to be ready for a pick up between 0800 – 0830 hrs).  Even our Guest House wasn’t open for business as of yet

We went over to the Black Canyon coffee house for breakfast this morning, to support the local business of course… nothing to do with the great coffee or the fact we’re unlikely to have coffee as good while in Thailand…

Day One Hill Tribes Trek

Day Two Hill Tribes Trek

The day started rather slowly.  Patrick and Stephanie were to meet us at our bungalow at 8:00am for breakfast.  Our guide, Jon, was also our chef.  Since he was cooking in his hut, it was taking a while… Fortunately the man must have had foresight, and brought us coffee and hot water to start with while breakfast was cooking.

We’re on the road to Nowhere…. Oct 31st to Nov 5th

Chiang Rai to Krabi - 31 October to 5th November 2007…

I feel like we have been on busses forever…

Wednesday 31st October and Thursday 1st November were both spent at the Akha River house in Chiang Rai, relaxing after our trek into the hills… OK… in all honesty we needed to get the laundry done, and book tickets for our next leg of the journey.  We had planned to head south slowly, but busses and time tables were not working in our favour.  Our only option ended up being the night bus from Chiang Rai to Bangkok… 12 hours.  We opted for an air conditioned bus (with toilet!) and departed at 6:00pm on Thursday 1st November…
