San Gil, Colombia

Before anyone comments yes I know there is a little bit of a break in the journal. The missing part encompasses the days that I was in Venezuela, I’ll back capture that when I get around to it!

It took two solid days of travel by 4WD then various buses to get from the lower Los Llanos in Colombia to San Gil, Colombia and so far I must say I love my first ‘taste’ of Colombia.

A day in Barichara

Today a group of us headed out from the hostel to a nearby town, Barichara. We were supposed to be leaving after breakfast but you all know what it is like with big groups?

Somehow with all the ‘just a minute I have to…’ it ended up being 1130 hrs or so before we headed out the gates.

Fried Ants and Paragliding, so much fun!

Today was a mixed day. You know first half boring involving that whole packing ones bag, checking out of the room, paying the bill, getting snacks for the night bus. All that fun stuff.

After lunch the pace changed a bit and I went Paragliding. It was so much fun!

In Cartagena, by mistake…

Alright I admit it. Sometimes when traveling one ends up somewhere totally by mistake. It’s happened before and I have no doubt that it will happen again.

Not that I didn’t intend to come to Cartagena eventually. I just got on the bus with the intention of going to Santa Rosa then on to Taganga first.

The Weight of Witches and Warlocks in Cartagena

Today I went for a walk around the old town of Cartagena, taking in the sights and sounds of the old city. I walked back towards the wall where I’d been the night before to see it all during the day.

Then I doubled back and went to a museum with a fascinating display from the Inquisition.
