It was one of those spur of the moment decisions.  You know where you’re just talking then a suggestion is made and you think that sounds like a great idea.  I’m in.  So we sent off a few emails before going to bed that came back promptly the next morning when we checked.  They were in too.  The next few days were spent running around our respective work places trying to arrange a few weeks leave. That was a little harder for Lou to get approval than me but by the end of the week that was organised too.

So things are moving along quite nicely for the up coming trip to New York.  We booked and paid for are airfares last week so that’s settled.  We even have hotel accommodation booked for the couple of days in Anaheim.  Since we’ve cut Hawaii out of the trip we’re using the ‘nice hotel’ nights in Anaheim since its at the end of the trip.  We get to be big kids running around and playing in Disneyland just before heading home and having to be all adult again.

So here we are one week out.  Its hard to believe but this time next week we’ll be sitting on what will be the first of three planes for the long haul to New York City.  I’ve done this so many times, yet I’m still kind of excited.  I guess if I wasn’t I would not keep travelling.  I would have stopped way back when I had that ‘One Big Trip of a Life Time’.

I’m on the plane for the second time today in what will be the longest of three plane legs to get to New York, USA.

It was an early morning departure with my alarm going off at 0515 hours.  Just enough time to stumble out of bed, change, pack the last few things like toiletries into my bag and get in the car to go to the airport.  The city was fog bound.  Just what we needed.  What with strike action by the Qantas Technicians causing flight delays we really didn’t need the weather to chime in and help with fog as well.

Today was fairly relaxed.  When we all finally crawled out of bed we sat around and discussed what we were going to do for the day.  So we decided on a small walking tour with Dim Sum in China Town.  A quick call to Es established that she was in on the day as well.
