Abu Simbel & The Dahabiyya

0245 hours and multiple alarms go off in the hotel.  I considered cursing for a bit or rolling over and pulling the pillow over my head but decided it would not really be productive.  Besides most of the alarms belonged to us.

We trouped down stairs, picked up our breakfast boxes and headed out with our driver to our mini van to take us to Abu Simbel.

Day 2 on the Dahabiyya Princess Hanna

We cast off early, well about 8am I guess so not really that early, while we were all having breakfast on the upper deck.  Breakfast was a simple affair abut after the excesses from the day before it was probably just as well.  Late morning we finally pulled into Gebel Silsila

A Day of Tombs and Temples

The get up call was early again for us today although not as bad as some days I guess and Katherine always seems to be up early anyway.  The rest of us dragged ourselves out of bed about 5:45 am.  Ok so its not too early really but its early for holidays!  It at least gave some of us time to inhale some coffee or tea depending on preference before being asked to face the day head on.

Adventures at Karnak

Today we had to ourselves and on the agenda was the Temple of Karnak.  We had some debate before heading off, it looked like some of the group were going to stay behind but it ended up with us all heading off.

We walked down to the ferry which had become our habit which took about 25 minutes or so.  Not too bad in the morning since its still relatively cool at 8am.  Lou was armed with her ‘smiting stick’ and the rest of us grabbed some rocks to fend off some of the local dogs who can be distinctly unfriendly.

Farewell & One Last Foray

Yet another early morning this morning although this time we said good bye to half our party on the steps of our flat as Esther, Lil and Deanna were heading off to Dahab today.  So at 0630 hours on the steps of the Flats in Luxor we said goodbye to the three girls who were about to head off on there own adventure before heading home.  This is our last day in Luxor as well but we do not head out until later tonight.

Still we headed out first for one last foray to the temples around Luxor.  Mum, Dad, Lou and I headed off with a driver and guide while Katherine decided to stay at the flats.
