About Me
It has been mentioned several times now that I did not have an ‘About Me’ section. So if you really want to know here it is.
I am a 30 something, little more of the something and getting close to the whole 40 thing, female from Australia. Travel has always been a part of my life starting with trips both overseas and in country with my parents. It seemed the perfectly normal thing to put money aside when I left school to save up to go travelling overseas. I’ve continued to do that with trips of various lengths everything from small 4 week holidays to a year long RTW.
Travel is even listed on my CV under ‘Hobbies’. An expensive one I must admit but one that I do not regret. I have seen a fair bit of the world over the years but there are still so many fascinating places and cultures to see and experience. I never get bored of it. One of the biggest problems seems to be deciding when I get back from a trip where I will go next!
Over the years I have done a variety of jobs like kitchen hand, waitress, butler, receptionist, (the list goes on) and my income has gone in the upward direction. All well and good. I haven’t noticed that it makes it any easier to save to go travelling though. One seems to acquire more ‘things’ one of those ‘things’ being a house, or rather the bank owns the house and I think I’ve managed to pay off the front door and some of the front wall, if you get my meaning!
No matter what your situation do not let anyone tell you that you can not possible save enough money to travel. You may have to be strict with yourself and it may take longer but even on a limited budget you can save if you really want to. All those 5 cent pieces really do add up!
I’m currently in the very early stages of planning and saving for my next RTW. It is still three years off but I have started saving for it. I now have two holiday savings accounts that I am shoving money into. One being for my next trip, Thailand in October this year. The second holiday savings account is for my RTW. I am not sure at this point if it really will be a RTW or a trip 9 to 12 months in duration to Central / South America taking the long way home with a few stops on the way. I am leaning towards the latter.
Anyway I think that is enough about me. It is a big wide world out there and I hope I will met you out in it one day.
Have fun,
Cath
