I’m sitting waiting for dinner, work issues intruding on my mind as they have done for the last week. There’s a riot of music coming from all directions as each restaurant and bar competes with the others for clientele.

There is a group of backpackers on the next table discussing a variety of issues, right now it’s the differences in the English language between countries. On another table to men are playing backgammon. There’s a couple across the way who need a room.

I’ve flown with a quite a few airlines over the years and some of them have been somewhat dodgy. Now with most of them I wouldn’t ever say ‘do not fly with…’ those particular airlines.

I’ll make an exception with Iberia Airlines.

So I admit it. I’ve been a little slack and it has been some time since I’ve updated the journal. Its been a combination of things really. Mostly, well it’s called Cuba.

There wasn’t much WiFi and even when I could access something as basic as email most of the time it was horribly expensive. It generally would also take about 10 minutes or so just to load the inbox for my online mail. 

Personally I figured the journal entries could wait.

London may have been it’s typical wet, grey and cold self but you know what?  I was so happy to be there!  I was out of the Spanish speaking world for the first time in months and more importantly out of Cuba.

Now I’ve been to London before. Quite a few times actually. Not necessarily because I just adore the place that much it’s just that London seems to be one of those places in the world.

So I was in London with a few days to kill so I did what I always do when I end up in London. It’s a rule. I went to see a show on the West End.

In all the travel I’ve done over the years I have never, I seriously do mean never been to or stayed at those ‘all inclusive’ style of place that a great many people seem to be so fond of.

Since I was cutting my losses with Cuba and I read there were some relatively good cheap places in Varadero. There was also birthday money sitting in my account waiting for me to find something to spend it on.

I decided this could be the time to spend it.
